Startupticker.ch has rounded up a series of awards won by young Swiss companies active in cleantech, medtech and artificial intelligence. That is where the common ground ends: according to the portal, the rewards range from cash to partnership agreements, by way of entry into acceleration programs.
Gaia Turbine: 50,000 francs in Lugano
The only cash prize on the list with a stated amount goes to a Ticino company. Gaia Turbine SA's project "High-efficiency plug-and-play hydropower plants" took first prize, worth 50,000 francs, at the BancaStato Award for Corporate Sustainability 2026, reports Startupticker.ch. The Lugano-based startup harnesses residual water flows using modular, compact technology. The aim: to produce renewable energy locally while reducing environmental impact and the need for invasive construction work.
AgroSustain: access to Tesco's network
In the United Kingdom, AgroSustain was recognized at the first edition of the Tesco Agri-tech Challenge, in the Early-Stage Innovation category. Its solution, Tornado, is a sealing technology that forms an invisible physical barrier on the surface of plants using edible ingredients. It is designed to help crops withstand harsh conditions such as drought or salinity, in order to reduce losses, support agricultural yields and limit reliance on conventional treatments.
Here, the source mentions no cheque: the reward takes the form of a business opportunity. AgroSustain will be able to work directly with Tesco's supplier network and introduce its technology into real supply chains. This is access, not a contract with a figure attached: Startupticker.ch gives neither a volume nor an amount.
Monix Health: a pitch won in London
On the medtech side, Monix Health came out on top among seven finalists in the Medical Devices & Therapeutics pitch competition at Women's Health Week, held at the Emirates Stadium in London. Founded in 2025, the startup is developing a real-time hormone monitoring platform: a skin patch fitted with ultra-fine microneedles that penetrate just below the surface of the skin, paired with an AI-powered app. The goal is to measure female hormones continuously and non-invasively, with a precision the company describes as laboratory-grade. Monix is starting with IVF and plans to later broaden its scope to menopause, endocrinology and the various stages of hormonal health.
The source does not specify whether this win comes with prize money or any particular support.
Motif AI: Anthropic's startup program
The award linked to Anthropic is not a prize in the traditional sense, but an admission. Zug-based Motif AI is among the participants in the Claude Startup Program, which Anthropic reserves for early-stage startups building their products with Claude. The program gives them access to the US company's technology, tools, experts and network.
Motif AI offers financial platforms wealth management advice personalized for each user, delivered by a series of AI agents. These rely on Clarity, the company's financial intelligence system, which connects market data, news and individual portfolios and tracks how they evolve over time. Institutions integrate these agents via a modular API and SDK, choose the ones they need, adjust the tone and language to match their brand and can deploy them within a few days.
Olexir: the Circular Valley accelerator
Finally, Olexir, an ETH spin-off based in Zurich, is among the 15 companies selected, from hundreds of applications from around the world, for the current edition of the Circular Valley Accelerator in Germany. Its technology enables the oleogelation of botanical oils through the self-assembly of plant proteins, without heating the oil and without harsh solvents or costly cross-linking agents. The result aims for a premium silky feel and better delivery of bioactive ingredients.
The program started this month. The teams are expected in the Rhine-Ruhr region on 26 October to work with experts, industry partners and potential investors on their business model. It will conclude with a Demo Day at the Circular Valley Forum 2026 on 13 November, where the startups will present their solutions to industry, academia and policymakers.
Key takeaways
A cash prize, access to a supplier network, a pitch win, a place in an AI company's program and another in an accelerator: these awards are not equivalent and should not be confused with fundraising. None of the startups mentioned here announces a funding round. For most of them, the concrete value will depend on what they make of the contacts they have gained, at Tesco, at Anthropic or at the Demo Day.
