No TWINT payment limit amount appears in the official sources consulted on 30 October 2026. The homepage of TWINT, the Swiss smartphone payment app, publishes no cap per payment and no daily or monthly limit. It refers each user to their bank's TWINT app, linked to their account.

This page deals solely with the question of the cap. Installation, uses and security of the app are described on our page on how the TWINT app works.

We therefore publish no cap figure. An unsourced amount could be wrong, or could have changed since it was published. The sections below separate what the sources say from what they do not say.

What is the TWINT payment limit?

The short answer: the sources consulted do not give it. The twint.ch page for private customers, read on 30 October 2026, contains no maximum amount. Nor does it specify whether a limit exists per payment, per day or per month.

The only time limit stated in figures on that page concerns another feature. With the "Pay later" option, users choose, with each purchase, to pay immediately or within 30 days, according to TWINT. The page sets no amount for this option.

Does the TWINT cap depend on the bank?

The setup process described by TWINT goes through the bank. The site asks users to select their bank from a drop-down menu, then to "choose their TWINT app". The final step is to configure the app and link it to their account.

The site thus refers to several TWINT apps, attached to different institutions. Our analysis stops there: the sources do not say whether each bank sets its own cap. It can be neither confirmed nor ruled out.

Two Swiss offers covered by 2clics illustrate this variety of affiliations:

  • Neon, a Swiss neobank, includes "TWINT Prepaid" in its account, according to its "Account" page consulted on 30 October 2026. Its customers' money is held by its partner bank, Hypothekarbank Lenzburg;
  • Yuh, a Swiss finance app, provides access to TWINT, according to its website consulted on 27 October 2026 by 2clics. Its banking services are provided by Swissquote Bank SA.

The name "TWINT Prepaid" suggests a prepaid model. But Neon's page does not describe it and mentions no limit.

This table does not compare caps: it only shows where the information is missing.

How do you change your TWINT limit?

The sources consulted describe no procedure for raising or lowering a limit. For questions not answered in its FAQ, TWINT refers users to two channels: its chatbot and the TWINT app's customer service.

For anyone who wants to know their cap, these two channels remain the route indicated by TWINT itself. Since the app depends on the bank, the bank's customer service is also a logical point of contact. This is our own inference, not a published instruction.

What should you do if a payment does not match what you authorised?

A payment that was not approved can be disputed, according to TWINT's FAQ, including an automated payment. The same page covers the case of an electric vehicle charge debited in error.

The risk is not theoretical. On 20 October 2026, the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (FOCS) reported a phishing variant linked to hotel bookings. According to the office, the fraudsters try to take control of TWINT and e-banking accounts. If an account is hacked, the FOCS recommends contacting the financial service provider immediately.

Do merchants have more information?

Not on amounts. TWINT's rates for businesses do not appear in the sources consulted either, as detailed on our page on TWINT merchant fees. A Federal Council proposal, under consultation until 11 February 2027, aims to make these fees easier to understand. It does not cover user caps.

The other payment methods tracked by 2clics are gathered in the 2clics Payments section.

Key figures

What we do not know yet

  • the amount of TWINT payment limits, per payment, per day or per month;
  • who sets these limits: TWINT, each bank, or both;
  • whether caps differ from one TWINT app to another, and between a bank app and TWINT Prepaid;
  • whether users can change their cap themselves, and through which menu;
  • any specific limit for the "Pay later" option or for money transfers between individuals.
