Bern-based start-up Besso has raised CHF 4 million, according to a press release relayed on October 9, 2026 by Startupticker.ch. It is a seed round, fully subscribed by a single investor: a large European single family office, whose name has not been disclosed, in keeping with its wish for discretion.
What Besso does
Founded in 2023 and active in SaaS software, Besso targets multinationals facing the growing complexity and cost of global trade. According to the press release, its technology and expertise are meant to help companies identify and seize opportunities in their international trade flows, at a time when tariffs, trade barriers and geopolitical uncertainty are weighing more and more heavily on global supply chains.
Details of how the platform works, its pricing and the markets it covers are not specified in the source.
Claimed traction, without figures
The press release speaks of a period of “strong commercial traction”. Besso says it already works with Danone, Unilever and AB-InBev, and notes that several other Fortune 500 companies have recently joined its customer base, without naming them.
Neither revenue, nor the total number of customers, nor the company’s headcount is disclosed. The valuation used for this round has not been disclosed either.
Until now, the start-up has been built in a deliberately frugal way and largely self-funded (“bootstrapped”), according to the source.
A single investor for the entire round
“We have always made sure to build Besso around real customer demand rather than around funding milestones,” says Philip Sieber-Gasser, founder and CEO of Besso, quoted in the press release. “The traction we are seeing today tells us that the time has come to invest more decisively in growth. Having a single long-term investor take the entire round gives us both the resources and the focus we need to do so.”
What the CHF 4 million will fund
According to the press release, the funds will mainly be used for three things:
- expanding Besso’s team;
- strengthening its capacity to serve a rapidly growing base of multinational customers;
- advancing its technology platform, through continued investment in product development and R&D.
How the amounts will be split between these items and the timeline are not specified.
