Allianz Trade forecasts a record 15,000 bankruptcies in Switzerland in 2026, Sunrise will cut 358 jobs and stablecoins moved $891 billion in a single quarter. This barometer brings together 15 figures of the week on the Swiss economy, markets, crypto, startups and cybersecurity. All of them come from 2clics.com articles published up to 28 October 2026.
Each figure is attributed to whoever published it. When it is a forecast, a scenario or data supplied by the company itself, the table says so.

| Figure | What it measures | Article |
|---|---|---|
| 15,000 | Corporate bankruptcies forecast in Switzerland for the whole of 2026 by credit insurer Allianz Trade, in its report of 27 October 2026. It would be an all-time record, more than double the 2022 figure. It is a projection, not a count, and the new insolvency law in force since 2025 explains a large part of it, according to the insurer. | record bankruptcies in Switzerland |

| 10,000 to 12,000 jobs | Jobs that a departure of UBS could cost in Switzerland, out of the 34,000 the bank employs in the country, according to the Swiss Bank Employees Association (SBPV). It is a scenario put forward in a letter to a parliamentary committee, reported by finews.ch on 26 October 2026, not an established fact. | UBS departure and jobs |

What the week says about the trends
Employment is under pressure, but the figures are not of the same nature. Sunrise's 358 jobs are a decision, taken after consultation. Allianz Trade's 15,000 bankruptcies are a forecast, partly inflated by the new insolvency law. The 10,000 to 12,000 jobs put forward by the SBPV describe a scenario, in the debate on UBS's capital requirements.
The franc is weighing on the accounts of the large groups. At Nestlé, currency effects exactly cancel out organic growth over nine months. Holcim, for its part, beats expectations and raises its targets once again.
Doubts about artificial intelligence spending have swept through several markets. On 22 October 2026, the Nasdaq lost 2.6%: bitcoin followed tech stocks, and copper fell in their wake. Gold, for its part, did not play its role as a safe haven, according to the analysts quoted.
In crypto, usage is advancing faster than the Swiss offering. Stablecoins are circulating in large volumes, nights and weekends included, but only a minority of the institutions surveyed by the HSG already offer tokenised assets.
Swiss startups are raising big sums, often with foreign backing. Enact Intelligence closes a first round of $30 million, Windward Bio is targeting the Nasdaq, and the sports tech report finds that growth capital comes mainly from abroad. In cybersecurity, the signals are also rising: more reports to the Commissioner and more SMEs affected. A report is not an incident, however, and the rise in affected SMEs is based on a survey.
The previous week's figures are in the barometer of 21 October 2026. The economic context is detailed in our article on Swiss economic growth.
